Since the Volkswagen Group was caught in the diesel truck test cheating scandal, the diesel car sales in the United States plummeted. In the new year, Chevrolet and Mazda will test the Americans for diesel cars and SUV preferences.
“As the largest traditional suppliers are no longer selling diesel vehicles, we are not aware of the demand for diesel vehicles.” Said Stephanie Brinley who is a senior analyst at HIS, a US-based automotive research firm.
The relatively popular Chevrolet Cruze compact sedan and Mazda CX-5 family SUVs have a high fuel economy and good performance to test the future demand for diesel vehicles in the US market.
